This plan will create a framework for action to support walking as a transportation option for people of all ages and abilities throughout the Twin Ports.

With advisory committee and community input, it will:
● Identify the issues and barriers that exist for walking as transportation.
● Recommend a range of solutions including policies, implementation guides and investment strategies to improve the pedestrian environment.

What is the purpose of this Plan?
This plan will create a framework for action to ensure that walking is a safe, convenient and desirable transportation option for people of all ages and abilities throughout the Twin Ports. With advisory committee and community input, it will:
● Identify the issues and barriers that exist for walking as transportation.
● Recommend a range of solutions including policies, implementation guides and investment strategies to improve the pedestrian environment.

Why is this Plan needed?
● To support jurisdictions in making decisions that will encourage walking.
● To provide a guide that includes best-practice solutions and locally-developed recommendations.
● The MIC plans for all the ways that people and goods are transported around the Twin Ports. Part of our work is making our area a better place for people to walk.

When & How will this Plan be Developed?
A 10-month planning process, from February to November 2020, will include 6 advisory committee meetings, 2 public meetings, and a series of public engagement activities.
