This document presents the findings of a study of the US Highway 2/53 corridor in Superior, WI, known locally as East 2nd Street.

Recommended improvements (see Section 5) for specific segments along the corridor focus primarily on traffic operations and traffic safety.

Overall, current and forecasted conditions do not appear to threaten the capacity or the efficiency of operations along the roadway, but do appear to negatively impact the cross‐movements of non‐motorized users. The general recommendations of this study are to take steps to limit the number of direct accesses to the roadway while also implementing various strategies to improve the corridor’s safety and accessibility for non‐motorized users.
